Reflexology – relaxation on another level…
The practice of reflexology dates back over thousands of years and is thought to be depicted in a painting found in an ancient Egyptian tomb which dates back to 2230 BC showing what looks like an early example of reflexology treatment taking place.
Reflexology is a holistic complementary practice which works on the whole body, supporting the physical, spiritual, mental and emotional aspects of each individual. Gentle massage techniques are used to bring about a state of relaxation and help to stimulate the body’s own natural healing process.
Excessive stress can easily disrupt the balance and harmony within the body, causing dis-ease. It is thought that reflex points on the soles of the feet and palms of the hands are connected to different parts of the body. Applying pressure and stimulating these points through various massage strokes helps to create a response in the corresponding part of the body helping to create a state of deep relaxation to encourage the body’s self-healing process, increasing vital energy and creating a much better state of health and wellbeing. For example, by stimulating the head reflex on the big toe or thumb can help alleviate the symptoms of headaches.

What to Expect During Treatment
Appointments last approximately 60 minutes which includes a 15 minute consultation to discuss all areas of your health and wellbeing in a safe and confidential environment in order to establish a treatment plan.
During the treatment you will be asked to remove your shoes and socks and then you will be able to relax back into the chair whilst the reflexes on your bare feet are worked on.
You may experience different sensations or emotions during the treatment indicating congestion or imbalance in a corresponding area. These indications show that the body is responding in a positive way.
During my treatments I like to use different crystals. By using crystals such as rose quartz, amethyst, citrine and blue lace agate amongst others on the soles of your feet. Combining the advantages of reflexology with the powerful healing energies of crystals results in a subtle rebalancing and harmonising on a physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual level.
Following the treatment most people experience a state of wellbeing, feeling energised and relaxed which can encourage a better night sleep. Other people may notice increased urination, runny nose, tiredness, or feel more emotional after treatment; this is a normal response and should pass within 24-48 hours. It is important to keep drinking lots of water following the treatment to help eliminate toxins and waste products from the body and minimise these effects.
